Galloping to Dreams of Silver Part 2

The Adventure continues…

     The last time we left our hero Lone Ranger, =e continued his treacherous travels across the country. Weary from his =ravels, he refreshed himself in the calming rivers of a small town. He can’t wait =o share what he has gathered to the people in San Mateo.   

    Tonto also carries hopes and dreams of his =illagers. He packs his sack, and rides off to San Mateo to learn from The Lone Ranger.

 Rigorous Journey

    DOH Lone =anger Dr. Ismael Pastor continues his adventure by traveling around Baguio, Cebu =nd Cagayan de Oro (CDO) City. Together with trusted companions, Ms. Cora =ecson and Ms. Joyce Gonzaga of the International Movement of Development Managers =IMDM), they went to the cities  to consult and gather more data for the =ational Health Plan (NHP) for PWDs.

Refreshing

    A three-day Strategic Planning Workshop =ollows on June 16 to 18 at the Ciudad Christia Resort in San Mateo, Rizal. The workshop was =articipated by more than 40 PWDs, NGO workers, representatives from the Center of =st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Health Development, National =overnment Agencies and Local Government Units.

    Our =onto, in the person of ASP Executive Director Ranil Sorongon, representing the group =f persons with intellectual/learning disability attended the 3 day workshop. Ms. Evalyn Layug, the former president of ASP Cagayan de =ro chapter participated in the consultation forum in Cagayan de Oro =st1:PlaceType w:st="on">City. 

Positive results

    Valuable data were gathered from =he consultation forums, focus group discussions and strategic =lanning will be consolidated by IMDM to form the baseline for the PWD National =ealth Plan. Funding agencies will also be tapped to finance the implementation of =he said plan.

Commendations

    The facilitators utilized the same framework used by the development =anagement students of the Asian Institute of Management in the strategic planning workshop. Though rigorous and exhausting, one participant gave this =ositive reaction: “In my six years experience with the PWD sector, =his is the first time that I experience this kind of strategic planning. I hope =hat this will not be the last”.
